Over Medicated

My pharmacist purchased this one. It now hangs above his head at the local pharmacy and gifts store. If you can identify with this then you might be a senior citizen. I'm heading there.

Planning Commission

A couple of years ago many of the good people of Brookings, OR were in an uproar over the town counsel's plan to annex a large tract of land located in the hills above the town. The council voted to move forward with the idea, but the deal later fell through because, supposedly, the Mayor and officials were making it too difficult for the contractor to work with them.

Anyway, before the measure passed there was much debate at the Planning Commission meetings for and against the plan. I wondered what it would be like if Big Foot were to step into the debate. So I drew this cartoon for the local paper.

For what its worth: There has been one Big Foot sighting since I've lived here (five and a half years now). A trucker reportedly saw one on highway 199, just over the state line. I tell people that I don't believe in Big Foot, but I would sure like to see one. No one would believe me anyway.

Iguana

My middle daughter is spending most of the summer in Aruba working with a church on that island. She told me that there are iguanas living on the island that the natives will occasionally turn into soup. One of the ladies in the church has offered her some iguana soup. Though my daughter has eaten a number of strange things on this trip, so far, she has not partaken of lizard soup.

There is one young man that is an aspiring artist that she has met. I sent her a letter and included this drawing of an iguana for his viewing pleasure. The caption is self explanatory. I am looking forward to hearing the young man's response, but during our few phone calls my daughter hasn't mentioned it yet. I am taking a chance posting this on my blog, because I wanted to surprise her. But, I figure that enough time has elapsed to where it should be safe to post it -- then again, maybe the Arubain mail moves as quickly as the U.S. government's.

Tooth Extraction

I drew this for a dentist friend that lives in Tucson, AZ. The dentist was not suppose to look like him, or the quality of care was not meant to be a reflection of his kind of care. We'll always appreciate Dave for the way he took care of our oldest daughter when she knocked her two from teeth out.

Family Practice - What Daughter?

I have learned that if the list of items that my wife wants me to pick up at the store is larger than three items then she must write it down on a piece of paper, otherwise, I will forget at least one of them.

Here is yet another installment of Family Practice based upon my life -- and that of my wife who must deal with the aspects of living with a forgetful husband.
